read moreEye Care Equality organises eye screening camps at various locations such as factories, construction sites and schools to check the eyes of blue-collar workers. These camps are conducted by a team of qualified doctors from LD Charitable Trust, founded by Dr. Bhagat Prasad, an optometrist at Holy Family Hospital. The trust has screened over 2,00,000 individuals and performed more than 11,000 operations.
The screening process begins with testing using a tonometer, a machine that evaluates the eye power of each worker. This is followed by a physical examination conducted by expert optometrists, who use Snellen Charts, Ophthalmoscopes and Trial Lens Sets to assess for eye power, color blindness, cataracts and other eye diseases. If any issues are detected, workers receive free reading glasses and/or eye drops while distance glasses are prescribed. All workers are given a medical prescription for the same as well.
Our mission at Eye Care Equality is to empower blue-collar workers by providing eye care services at no cost. We are dedicated to creating a world where everyone, regardless of their economic background, has access to essential eye care. As we continue our efforts, we are on track to screen 5,000 workers, ensuring that even more individuals receive the vital eye care they need.
